How To
Assemble An Electric Saber |
The following discussion explains the process of constructing an electric
saber. If you are building a dry saber you may skip the parts that discuss
wiring.
As previously mentioned in the "Overview", there are two main saber
systems herein referred to as Modern & Classic. We will discuss each
in turn.
For the purpose of this description the side of the blade with an "edge"
will be designated the front.
These instructions assume that you have an electric saber guard. For
instructions on converting standard guards to electric ones click here.
Modern:
Step #1
Insert the tang half way through the guard and socket bracket, making sure
that the front of the blade is aligned with the front of the guard.
Put the thumb pad in place.
Put the handle on the tang. Push the tang all the way through the handle
and through the end of the guard's arch.
Step #2
Before putting on the pommel, gently thread it backwards to ensure correct
thread alignment.
Tighten the pommel thoroughly.
Classic:
Step #1
If you have a French 2-prong socket, look at the underside. One of the
screws has two nuts while the other has only one. loosen the first nut
on the screw with two. Wrap the sensor wire*
around the screw between the two nuts.
Tighten the nut.
If you have a German 2-prong socket, loosen the screw with the smaller
hole through it.
Thread the sensor wire through the small hole in the bracket and
wrap it around the screw.
Tighten the screw.
If you have a bayonet socket, loosen the small screw on the side of it
and wrap the wire around it.
Tighten the screw.
Step #2
Insert the tang half way through the guard and socket bracket, making sure
that the front of the blade is aligned with the front of the guard.
Put the thumb pad in place.
Put the handle on the tang. Push the tang all the way through the handle
and through the end of the guard's arch.
Step #3
Before putting on the pommel, gently thread it backwards to ensure correct
thread alignment.
Tighten the pommel thoroughly.
That's it, you're done!
Now would be a good time to test your weapon. If you
